MONTREAL (CityNews) – Ticketed after wanting to go get ice cream – that’s what happened to one Montrealer who headed to Mont-Tremblant over the long weekend.
Incredible statement sent by @VilleMTremblant this morning about Montrealers who tried to sneak in during the long weekend "Un autre montréalais a spécifiquement mentionné « je m’en fous » et s’être rendu à Mont-Tremblant pour y faire de la randonnée en montagne" #What pic.twitter.com/Fdxc5zqsaQ

Police say more than 20 people were ticketed trying to gain access to the area for non-essential reasons.
Local police in the Laurentian resort town said they turned back multiple people trying to enter at roadblocks.
The vast majority were Montrealers who told police officers they were coming to visit or to access their cottage in the area.
In a statement, Mont-Tremblant said some of the reasons given to local authorities included one person claiming they drove to the city to enjoy some ice cream at a must-try shop in the area, while another just plainly said he “did not care” about the rules and he was there to go hiking.
Police handed out about 20 general offense tickets in those three days alone.
Mont-Tremblant asked anyone to think twice before coming to visit them for ice-cream, or any other non-essential reasons – a trip that could cost you up to $6,000.
