All passengers must wear masks on planes: Transport Canada

By The Canadian Press

Transport Canada says that starting Monday, people flying to or from Canadian airports will have to have masks to help contain the spread of COVID-19.

Minister Marc Garneau says that starting at noon on April 20, passengers won’t be allowed to board planes unless they have non-medical face coverings for their mouth and nose.

They’ll only have to wear the masks when they have to be close to others, such as at screening points where they cannot always keep two metres of separation between themselves and the travellers, when they cannot physically distance from others if planes are crowded or if directed to do so by a public health order.

Passenger will also be required to show they have the necessary non-medical mask or face covering during the boarding process or they will not be permitted to continue with their journey.

Masks are also being encouraged for passengers travelling by train, boats, ferries and buses but they are not mandatory at this point.
