Laval’s Place Bell now housing COVID-19 patients

By Toula Drimonis

MONTREAL (CITYNEWS) – Place Bell in Laval, Que., has been transformed to welcome patients recovering from COVID-19.

An arena that normally hosts hockey games and rock concerts will temporarily be housing patients and health workers.

The first group of patients was transferred from Hopital de la Cité-de-la-Santé on Friday, and more are expected to be moved starting next week.

About 50 patients will be housed there and will all have their own private space.

The goal is to free up acute-care beds at the hospital for geriatric patients also recovering from coronavirus.

Close to 100 employees from the CIUSSS Laval are expected to work at the arena.
