Quebec students seek lawsuit against universities for disrupted classes

MONTREAL (CITYNEWS) – Students from fifteen Quebec universities want to file a class-action lawsuit against their universities.

They say schools should refund them part of their tuition for the semester, since the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted their classes.

When in-person classes were cancelled on March 13, students also lost access to their university libraries and other on-campus facilities.

And while some classes went online, others were completely cancelled.

Students now want to be able to seek compensation for services they say they never received.

Several schools – like Universite de Montreal and McGill – have already announced they are moving to online courses this coming fall.
