MONTREAL (CITYNEWS) – Pluto is going to Hollywood!
Montreal schnauzer Pluto took the internet by storm at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic with quarantine-themed videos from the perspective of our four-legged friends.
Two months and millions of views later, talent agents from the Gotham Group in Los Angeles and New York reached out to Pluto’s owner Nancie Wight. They signed Pluto and are now working on several projects together.
CityNews first covered Pluto’s budding internet popularity back in March.
“You were the first person who reached out to us,” said Wight. “Who would have thought this was going to happen!
“Pluto has some reps, which is good fun. They’ve been terrific. They’re trying to look out for us and sort through the things that get sent our way and work out things that would be fun to do for Pluto in the entertainment world.”
Wight, a former stand-up comedian, started making the videos for friends and family. But soon the world fell in love with Pluto, the 13-year-old dog who is mostly blind and deaf. Some of the videos have been shared by big celebrities like Demi Lovato and Drew Barrymore.
“A couple of (friends) said, ‘can you please make this public.’ Just with a little click of the settings, things went crazy,” said Wight. “It’s just been overwhelming the amount of love, and just how important she seems to have become in everybody’s day to day.
“The comments are so moving and touching.”
