Ending Racism: What Will it Take? launches today to drive conversation with Canadians

TORONTO (NEWS 1130) – While the fight against racism spreads across North America, the conversation will continue tonight across a multitude of Rogers Sports & Media platforms.

The first in a series of initiatives, the company is launching Ending Racism: What Will it Take? on Thursday with a one-hour special hosted by Cityline’s Tracy Moore and Sportsnet’s Donnovan Bennett.

The prime-time show will examine the events that sparked protests around the world. It will also take a sobering look at systemic racism and injustices in Canada.

Moore says not to let the title of the program fool you.

“There’s a window here and there are so many people asking, number one, how did we get here? And number two, how do we fix it? We want to be able to give folks some tools,” she says, adding a show like this one is necessary.

“We have to use this opportunity. The world has exploded. There are protests globally, and people saying they no longer want to pretend that this isn’t an issue. It’s been an issue for my entire lifetime, all 45 years. I never thought there would be a time that I would be openly speaking about racism and discrimination in this way.”
