Montreal extends state of emergency until June 23

MONTREAL (CITYNEWS) – The City of Montreal has once again extended its state of emergency – this time until June 23.

The state of emergency grants exceptional powers to authorities during the COVID-19 pandemic. It has been in effect in Montreal since March 27.

It allows for the mobilization of material and human resources to meet the challenges related to the health crisis.

With 3,298 deaths from COVID-19, Montreal is the Canadian city most affected by the pandemic.
