MONTREAL (CityNews) – Montreal Police (SPVM) say they’re making headway in curbing gun violence after multiple arrests and seizures this week, thanks to help from the public.
A 28-year-old man was arrested in possession of a pistol, a high-capacity gun, ammunition and a bulletproof vest on August 12.
Key information from a member of the public led the Organized Crime Section of the SPVM to conduct two searches in the RDP–Pointe-aux-Trembles and Sud-Ouest boroughs.
“There is no information that is too small to share with the police,” says SPVM Inspector David Shane. “Each seized firearm is a weapon that can no longer be used in an event of violence or intimidation.”
Anyone who witnesses or has information about gun violence is invited to communicate anonymously and confidentially with Info-Crime Montreal at 514-393-1133 or via the online form.
