MONTREAL (CityNews) – A nurse working in the emergency room of the Lakeshore General Hospital in Pointe-Claire tested positive for COVID-19 and a patient they were in contact with has developed symptoms.
The CIUSSS l’Ouest de l’Île-de-Montréal confirming to CityNews in an email statement that the nurse was not vaccinated, but was screened three times a week and wore a mask at all times.
The nurse was removed from their unit as soon as the test result was known, said Hélène Bergeron-Gamache, from the CIUSSS, adding that it was under investigation to determine if there is an epidemiological link between the two cases.
CIUSSS de l’Ouest de l’Île-de-Montréal said it continues to “strongly encourage staff and physicians to get vaccinated and to respect infection prevention and control standards with the same vigour as that observed since the start of the pandemic.”
