McGill’s student society demanding vaccine mandate on campus

MONTREAL (CityNews) ─ Some students at McGill University continue to voice their desire to have all students vaccinated on campus.

The Students’ Society of McGill University (SSMU) held a protest on Wednesday demanding the university make vaccines mandatory on campus.

The group also wants the university to set up remote learning for international students and accommodations − including remote options − for immunocompromised students and staff.

The SSMU also wants students to be part of the university’s decision-making surrounding COVID-19 safety.

A petition has also been circulating asking McGill to mandate vaccines.

The university said at the time they would follow all Quebec health measures, which does not include a mandate for on-campus vaccinations, but that students must wear masks at all times indoors.
