MONTREAL — Quebec provincial police say they have apprehended the man accused of kidnapping his three-year-old boy earlier in the week, and that the child was found safe, uninjured and has been returned to his mother.
The alleged kidnapping triggered an Amber Alert that remained in place for four days.
Police say the pair had been confined in a house not far from where they were last seen in Sainte-Paule, Que., northeast of the provincial capital.
In a release, the Surete du Quebec confirmed the man was apprehended around noon on Sunday. The boy was inside the house and was uninjured.
The man is in police custody as the investigation continues.
The Amber Alert was first triggered on Tuesday and briefly extended into New Brunswick before ultimately being lifted on Saturday when the two were located.
