MONTREAL (CityNews) — A 51-year-old woman will not face any charges after accidentally hitting nine people, including a child, with her car outside a polling station in a Montreal suburb on Monday.
The incident occurred outside a federal election polling station in the Montreal suburb of Dollard-des-Ormeaux after the woman allegedly lost control of her vehicle.
Montreal police (SPVM) confirmed Tuesday night that the collision was a result of a false maneuver as she drove into a parking lot on Sunshine Street, heading in to vote.

The SPVM also reported that one of the victims, a 77-year-old woman who underwent surgery, was in a stable condition.
Nothing suggested her life was in danger, but no update was provided until her surgery ended. Police were concerned the woman’s situation could deteriorate rapidly if she didn’t respond well to surgery.
Five men, three women and a five-year-old child were injured in Monday’s incident.
Besides the 77-year-old, the other eight were taken to hospital out of precaution with minor injuries.
The driver was questioned by police and released Monday night.
