Police make arrests in brazen daylight triple slaying last August in Montreal

MONTREAL — Montreal police have made multiple arrests in connection with a triple slaying last August in the city’s east end.
Homicide investigators say search warrants are being executed and they are being assisted by police in Laval, Que., just north of the city.
Three men aged 23, 25 and 26 years old have been arrested, as well as a 25-year-old woman.
Police say they won’t provide more details until their operation is complete.
On the evening of Aug. 2, three men were killed and two injured in a shooting outside a ground floor apartment in the Riviere-des-Prairies – Pointe-aux-Trembles borough.

Since the killings, there have been a series of high-profile shootings in the greater Montreal area involving organized criminals and street gangs.
In response, the province has announced new police units to combat gun trafficking and gun violence.
