Police say a woman is dead and a man is facing charges after a stabbing in central Montreal that investigators believe was a case of domestic violence.
Montreal police say the 24-year-old woman was stabbed Tuesday afternoon and died from her injuries shortly afterwards.
The victim has been identified as Romane Bonnier. She was a graduate of Montreal’s Marianopolis College and attended Toronto’s Randolph Academy for the Performing Arts, according to her Facebook page.
The suspect, 36-year-old François Pelletier, was arrested and was arraigned Wednesday after facing questioning from investigators with the police major crimes unit.
His next court appearance is Nov. 25.

A police spokeswoman says the investigation is ongoing, but investigators have confirmed the suspect and victim were ex-roommates and believe the homicide was a case of domestic violence.
Const. Veronique Dubuc says police received numerous 911 calls just after 4:30 p.m. Tuesday for an altercation between a man and a woman.
The victim was stabbed several times in the upper body and taken to hospital in critical condition before her death was confirmed in the evening.
The suspect was arrested at the scene in the city’s Plateau-Mont-Royal borough.
The killing is the 26th homicide on the island of Montreal this year.
