A viral video showing a man collapsing on the Montreal metro after getting caught between closing train doors at Lionel-Groulx station has turned out to be nothing more than a stunt.
The man who staged the incident to see how metro riders would react to such an emergency is actually a popular Instagrammer.
The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) deplores the gesture, which could have caused significant delays for passengers.
The video has been viewed over 65,000 times on his Instagram account, where the description makes it very clear that this is a joke. The Instagrammer, who calls himself Vroom Vroom, has already posted other similar videos in recent months.
In the video, you can see a man running to catch the metro and colliding with the doors while they are closing. Once in the car, he passes out twice, and worried passengers come to his aid. One woman even says someone should activate the emergency brake, but the man filming prevents a passenger from doing so.
The video was then reposted by other accounts on Twitter and Facebook, where it garnered millions of views, but few people on those social networks were aware that the whole thing was staged, creating confusion and concern.
