Montreal Police will hold a forum in the new year to come up with solutions on rising gun violence in the city.
The SPVM says the participation of all community and institutional partners is key, that the problem has social roots and requires everyone to work on a concerted strategy.
The forum will take place January 26 and 27.
The City of Montreal’s Diversity and Social Inclusion department will also hold a meeting in December with community organizations and city bodies that work directly with at risk youth – looking to highlight the needs, challenges and best practices for those in the field.
Three teens have been killed in Montreal this year. No arrests have been made in the case of Thomas Trudel, gunned down earlier this month, and Meriem Boundaoui, who was shot and killed in February.
Just last week, a second suspect was charged in the October stabbing death of 16-year-old Jannai Dopwell-Bailey.
