Montreal Public Health encourages people who attended community centre, gym on certain dates to get tested

Montreal Public Health is asking anyone who visited a gym in Kirkland and a community centre in LaSalle to get tested right away, as cases of the Omicron variant are connected to these locations.

If anyone attended Buzzfit Kirkland (gym), 3240 Jean-Yves on Dec. 1, 5, 6: between 4:00p.m. and 6:00p.m., or Centre Culturel et Communautaire Henri-Lemieux, 7644 Édouard, LaSalle on Dec. 4 between 12:00p.m. and 2:00p.m. should go get tested as soon as possible.

Officials say even if you’ve gotten two shots of the vaccine and don’t have symptoms, they recommend you get tested for COVID-19 and urge you to visit two specific sites that have a lab that can detect the Omnicron variant.

You can go to the Jewish General Hospital mobile site in the parking lot, at the corner of Bourret Avenue and Légaré.

You can go daily without appointment between 8:00a.m. and 1:00p.m., and with an appointment between 1:00p.m. and 7:45p.m.

Also, the CLSC de Parc-Extension, 7085 Hutchison: daily 12:30p.m. to 7:45p.m.

If you cannot get to one of these sites, Public Health says to be sure to tell the person testing you at another location specifically why you are there and that you may have potentially been exposed to the Omicron variant.

You can make a testing appointment by visiting Quebec.ca/coronavirus and put all pertinent information about possible Omicron exposure in the system.

As of December 9, Montreal has 14 confirmed cases of the Omicron variant, five of which are directly linked to travel outside of Canada, the others were infected while in Canada.

Public Health says this suggested a limited local transmission rate.
