Two teens dead after car falls off Montreal overpass, BEI investigating

Two teens are dead after their vehicle fell from an overpass off the Décarie Expressway in Montreal.

Quebec’s police watchdog, the BEI, is investigating.

They say it happened when the car was heading on Highway 15 south and Sûreté du Québec tried to pull it over around 2:20am on Friday morning.

The BEI says the driver refused to stop and officers pursued the car, but reportedly lost sight of it near the Sherbrooke street exit.

The vehicle was later found on the northbound side of the highway, where it appears to have gone off the road and crashed several metres to the ground below.

It says the two occupants — teen boys aged 16 and 18 — were found dead.

The Bureau des enquêtes indépendantes (BEI) say five of its investigators were sent to the scene and Montreal police will be supporting them.

Anyone who witnessed the event is asked to get in touch via the BEI’s website: https://www.bei.gouv.qc.ca/

This is the third investigation by the BEI in the past 24 hours.
