After CityNews introduced you to rising TikTok star Tika the Iggy in 2020 – she now has over 70 million views and close to 2 million followers – and is still strutting her stuff on the streets of Montreal, around the world, and more importantly at home.
“We started the year by attending virtually Paris fashion week, we ended the year going to New York and Vancouver fashion week. She ended up even walking the runway at the end of Vancouver fashion week to close the show,” said Thomas Shapiro, Tika’s owner.

“We always had this kind of fun idea of creating a kid’s book. Tika can be very expressive and she’s got quite a little personality and we just thought that this would be a great idea for a kids book.”
Her new book talks about her fashion adventures. Highlighting her many outfits which are now at over 300.
“We wrote it intended for kids but of course, it’s for anyone of all ages if you are a Tika fan,” said Shapiro. “We just had a lot of fun bringing her outfits to life and she travels around the world in it a bit and I won’t give away the story but it’s really cute and we had a lot of fun doing it.”
Her adventures may be global, but right at home, she’s getting used to a baby brother.
“It was actually much better than I thought, she’s not a fan of kids our son is now nine months old, he only started crawling a month ago so that’s been a bit of an adjustment for her where she’s like he can move around now so she gotta move out of the way because he wants to grab her, but other than that she’s pretty protective whenever people want to be near him and she’s very sweet.”
With the audience, Tika has been able to capture on social media across the world Shapiro says he’s still shocked at her reach.
“When we were in New York for fashion week we were walking down the street and we didn’t even go five blocks from our hotel to our venue and we got stopped about 20 times like ‘is that the TikTok dog? Is that the dog that wears all the clothing? Is that Tika?’ and I was like okay I forget that people that follow her may recognize her in real life seeing that stuff happen is pretty cool.”
And while her outfits and attitude online are big Tika is still humble at heart.
“She’s an old lady she just turned ten in July, so she loves to sleep. She’s sleeping anywhere from 21 to 20 hours a day after this she’s going to go back under the covers and probably be there until dinner time so,” Shapiro explained. “She’s definitely got a big prescience online but she’s still quite humble and you know really chill at home.”
