Premier François Legault is reportedly set to announce that Quebec is backing down on the idea of imposing a health contribution on unvaccinated Quebecers – or a ‘vax tax’ as many have called it.
He will hold a press conference today at 1 p.m., and is also expected to detail the reopening of gyms and the return to sports for adults as of Feb. 14.
The Premier will be speaking publicly for the first time since the nationwide “Freedom Convoy” and reports that it may be headed to Quebec City this weekend.

The province’s latest round of easing restrictions will be part of its third phase of reopening.
Jan. 31 marked the reopening of restaurant dining rooms at half capacity and students returned to extracurricular activities. The ban on private gatherings was also lifted and now four people can gather or two family bubbles.
