The suspect, who cannot be identified as he is a minor, appeared in youth court on Wednesday.

He was also charged with the attempted murder of a second teen, a 15-year-old who was also stabbed during the same incident. Authorities had said at the time that their injuries were not life-threatening.

The crown opposed bail due to the gravity of the charges.

He remains detained until his next court appearance March 1.

The suspect was initially charged Feb. 9 with two counts of attempted murder, two counts of aggravated assault, conspiracy to commit murder, and conspiracy to assault someone. He pled not guilty.

With Gaudet’s death and autopsy completed, the charges were upgraded.

Two other teens were also arrested on Feb. 8, another 16-year-old and a 17-year-old – both later released on a promise to appear in court.
