A man in his early 30s was beaten, bound and held at gunpoint while his wife was allegedly tied up and placed in the bathroom on Thursday morning in a home invasion in a Nuns’ Island condo in Montreal.
The events occurred around 10 a.m., on the 29th floor of the high-rise located on rue de La Rotonde.
According to Montreal police, at least two suspects forced their way into the victims’ condo.
They accessed the building by pretending to deliver a package that required in-person delivery.
Upon opening the door, the occupant was immediately struck in the face.
The suspects allegedly overpowered the woman and then physically attacked her husband, demanding that he give them a password.
At least one of the suspects was in possession of a firearm, according to police.
No shots were fired during the altercation.
The woman was not injured, but her husband was roughed up pretty badly, mainly in the face.
He was transported to the hospital with no life-threatening injuries.
Police say that an investigator will be meeting with them both, in order to get a better idea of the home-invasion suspects’ motives.
