Prices at the SAQ are going up once again – an average of more than 3 per cent on over 2,500 products at Quebec’s liquor stores.
This is the second increase in just over six months and will come into effect Sunday (May 22) for most products. The rest, about 80 products, will see increases in July.
The SAQ cites disruptions in the global supply chain, rise in shipping costs, increased production costs for suppliers – related to bottle, corks, label shortages and also staff shortages – as reasons for the price adjustments.
They report that 182 other products will see their prices reduced by 2.1 per cent on average, while 606 will remain stable.
Unfavourable weather in 2021 is still affecting product supply for some wine regions in France, like Beaujolais, Burgundy and Loire – according to the SAQ.
