Montreal auditor general report: road construction needs to be better organized

By News Staff

Orange cones and detour signs have become the norm in Montreal over the years – and the city’s auditor general says the entire system for road construction needs to be better organized, calling it unacceptable.

In a report released Tuesday, Michèle Galipeau writes that the role and responsibilities of everyone involved in the process isn’t clearly defined and found that roadwork is often done without taking its full effects and impact into account.

She also reported that it isn’t carried out within an appropriate amount of time.

The plans should be more centralized, Galipeau also wrote, with more communication between the city and the boroughs.
