Man dies after reported altercation with security guards at SAQ in Lachine

A man died after a reported altercation with security guards at an SAQ in Lachine on Thursday.

Montreal police say the man in his 40s tried to leave the liquor store on 28^th Avenue just before 7 p.m. – without paying for an item. Security escorted him outside, where an altercation ensued.

They all fell to the ground at some point and police report the man got up, but then collapsed.

He was rushed to hospital, but was later pronounced dead.

The SPVM Major Crimes Unit is investigating and are meeting with witnesses.
