Power restored to 96% of households following last Saturday’s storm: Hydro-Québec

One week after a deadly storm hit parts of Quebec and southern Ontario, more than 18,000 people are still without power as of Saturday morning.

Hydro-Québec is reporting 18,430 customers are still in the dark.

Crews made significant progress overnight Friday into Saturday, as power was restored to more than 20,000 households .

In the Laurentians, 10,778 customers are without electricity – a drop of 50 per cent from Friday afternoon.

There are 3,790 households still in the dark in the Outaouais, and 2,273 in Lanaudière.

"It's been surreal, it's just been so difficult," said Morin-Heights resident, Jacqueline Murray, without power since last weekend's violent storm. Hydro-Quebec crews working around the clock to restore electricity. Alyssia Rubertucci reports.

      Hydro-Québec estimates it has restored power to 96 per cent of customers who were affected by last Saturday’s storms.

      “Our crews will be working throughout the weekend to restore power to all our customers as quickly as possible,” Hydro-Québec tweeted Friday evening.
