Giant ring being installed Saturday in downtown Montreal

The giant steel ring weighing more than 23,000 kilograms was being installed in the heart of downtown Montreal Saturday afternoon.

Giant cranes lifted the ring, which is 30 metres tall, off the ground.

The public art installation will be suspended at the Place Ville Marie esplanade.

The project is evaluated at $5 million.

The art installation was made possible by financial support from Tourisme Montréal and the Government of Quebec.

The arrival of The Ring is the last component of the major work carried out at PVM, with $200 million invested since 2017.
