Canadiens announce 2022-23 season schedule

The 2022-23 regular season schedule has been unveiled by the Montreal Canadiens.

The Habs will kick off their season on home ice for the first time since 2013 against their oldest rivals, the Toronto Maple Leafs, on October 12.

The meeting will be the first of two home games against the Leafs, the other taking place on Jan. 21. Montreal will also head to Scotiabank Arena to take on Toronto on Feb. 18 & Apr. 08.

Other notable games for Montreal this season:

Nov. 25 – Chicago Blackhawks

The Canadiens will travel to the windy city for their first meeting against former assistant coach, Luke Richardson.

Dec. 01-06 – Western Canada road trip

December 1 will see the start of the Canadiens four-game tour against their western Canadian rivals, and Seattle.

While only two points are on the line instead of a Stanley Cup like in the 80s, tensions will still run high against former Canadiens winger Tyler Toffoli and the Calgary Flames.

Stops will also be made in Edmonton on Dec. 03, and Vancouver on Dec. 05, with the trip coming to a close with a tilt in against the Krakken on Dec. 06.

Dec. 17 – Jan. 03 – End of 2022, start of 2023

The final home game of 2022 will take place on Dec. 17 against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Montreal will be in Washington for their final game of 2022 and will bring in the new year in Music City with a date against the Predators on Jan. 03.

NHL action will resume at Centre Bell on Jan. 05 against the Rangers.

Mar. 13 – Stanley Cup Champs

While it will be their second game of the season against Colorado, Montreal will welcome the defending Stanley Cup champions on March 13.

Apr. 13 – End of the regular season

Not much of a better way to close out the regular season than battling a long-standing rival.

The Canadiens will end the regular season at home against the Boston Bruins on Apr. 13, in a game that could have playoff implications for both teams.

Montreal will be looking to repeat their 2020-21 magic and make another run to the cup finals.
