Montreal Comiccon returns for 12th edition after pandemic hiatus

After going virtual last year, Montreal Comiccon is back in person from July 8-10 this year.

Montrealers will get to attend the popular convention showcasing artists and collectibles from entertainment genres like science fiction, fantasy, anime, comic books, video games and horror.

With over 100 panel discussions and workshops, fans can participate and learn more about the universes they love like Harry Potter, Mario Bros. and Marvel.

The convention features a gaming station where people can try out new games and participate in tournaments.

And it isn’t a Montreal Comiccon without some cosplay. Many showed up on opening day Friday in their best outfits.

Some of the best costumes included a pair of Lokis from the Marvel universe, Dolores Umbridge and Rita Skeeter from Harry Potter, and even Habs mascot Youpi! dressed up as Baby Yoda from the Mandalorian.

Others dressed as some characters from the videogame Halo, and Ryuk from the Japanese manga series Death Note.

Some of the special guests in attendance this year include British actor Malcolm McDowell, Harry Potter actors Matthew Lewis and Bonnie Wright, and American actor Robert Patrick (Terminator series).
