Two disruptive Quebecers force Air Transat flight to make emergency landing

An Air Transat plane had to make an emergency landing on a Montreal-Athens flight because of two disruptive travellers.

The flight took off from Pierre-Elliott-Trudeau airport around 5:45 p.m. Tuesday for Athens, Greece.

But two people forced the plane’s staff to divert from their scheduled route.

According to witnesses, a Quebec couple — 25-year-old Donnavan Belisle and 32-year-old Joakim Proulx – – were highly intoxicated; banging on their seats and even pouring water over the other passengers.

They face two charges under the Secure Air Travel Act for compromising an aircraft’s safety.

The plane landed at Gander airport, Newfoundland and finally took off again a little before midnight.

Air Transat confirming the plane did indeed land in Greece on Wednesday morning.
