Montreal biopharmaceutical company & Ontario drug manufacturer to produce monkeypox vaccine

Montreal-based biopharmaceutical company PnuVax and Ontario-based drug manufacturer Biolyse Pharma say they have signed an agreement to mass produce a monkeypox vaccine.
In an announcement made Wednesday, the said they can produce millions of doses nationwide.
Some 1000 cases of monkeypox have been reported in Canada.
As of August 4, Quebec is reporting 407 monkeypox cases.
Montreal is considered the epicentre of the virus in Canada.
The World Health Organization recently declared monkeypox to be a public health emergency of international concern. It is a highly contagious disease which causes painful lesions.
Public Health officials encourage those at risk to get vaccinated.

The virus spreads through prolonged intimate contact, but is said to not be very contagious in a typical social setting.
Symptoms of monkeypox include fever, headache, muscle aches, exhaustion, swollen lymph nodes and sores.
