Montreal police are investigating what seems to be an accident after a 7-year-old boy was found unconscious in a bathtub Monday.

Calls coming into 911 around 6:10 p.m. about the incident in a residence on Chambord street, near Saint-Zotique, in the Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie borough.

First responders performed CPR on the child before he was transported to the hospital in critical condition. The parents were also brought in, to be treated for shock.

Further medical analysis will be necessary to understand the circumstances surrounding this event, as it’s unclear if the boy had a health issue in the bath or fell asleep officers say.

Investigators from the SPVM were dispatched to the scene, but authorities reporting that there does not seem to be any criminal element involved and it would be accidental.

Police note that they responded to the call in order to support paramedics.
