To date, worldwide, the majority of cases among children have been acquired through contact within the same household.
Monkeypox spreads when people have close, physical contact with an infected person’s lesions, their clothing or bedsheets.
Symptoms can include rash, swollen lymph nodes and fever.
Quebec is reporting a total of 493 monkeypox cases.
More than 1,200 cases have been confirmed across nine provinces in Canada, with 35 hospitalizations and no deaths.
