Montreal police investigate gunfire and stabbing, 30 minutes apart

A busy night for Montreal police (SPVM) as they investigate shots fired and a stabbing.
Calls coming into 911 around 5 p.m. Monday after gunshots in the Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough.
It happened near the Clément-Jetté Arena on Dubuisson Ave. Officers finding bullet casings in the parking lot.
No one was injured, but reports are that a fight may have degenerated.
No suspects identified so far.
Then 30 minutes later, calls of a man stabbed in the upper body during an altercation downtown at Place Émilie-Gamelin near Sainte-Catherine and St-Hubert.
The victim was taken to hospital, authorities say his life is not in danger.
Police believe another person could have also been stabbed during the fight.
The victim is not being ruled out as a suspect, SPVM say.
An investigation is ongoing.
