Two men charged in connection to Rockland Centre parking lot shooting

Two men have been charged in connection to the Rockland Centre parking lot shooting in Town of Mount Royal on August 23.

Montreal police say around 1 p.m. on the 23rd, a 44-year-old man was shot and killed in the parking lot of the shopping centre.

Roughly half an hour later a second shooting happened at the corner of Saint-Denis and Ontario at pizzeria Napoli. A man in his 50s was taken to hospital in critical condition where he later died from his injuries.

SPVM say the suspected shooter, a 33-year-old man, was arrested in Vancouver, with the help of local authorities.

Police in Ottawa also arrested a 27-year-old man believed to have been the driver at the time of the shooting.

Both men will be brought back to Montreal to appear in court facing charges of first degree murder.

SPVM are still investigating the shooting that occurred in the restaurant on Saint-Denis Street on the same day and say it’s still unclear if both shootings are connected.
