Quebec Liberal Party now has full slate of 125 candidates
The Quebec Liberal Party now has a full slate of candidates – in all 125 ridings. They were the last party to fill their roster.
Quebec’s chief electoral officer had refused the candidacy of Harley Lounsbury in the riding of Matane-Matapédia.
The party legally challenged the decision and late Wednesday, the Superior Court of Quebec ruled in the Liberals favour.

“I am happy with the court’s decision, which confirms that we have indeed submitted 125 compliant candidate applications. This is a great victory for democracy. Liberal voters in Matane-Matapédia will be able to exercise their right to vote on October 3,” tweeted Leader Dominique Anglade after the decision.

The returning officer had rejected the nomination due to the lack of signatures and initials in two specific boxes on the official registration documents. The Liberals argued that rejecting a nomination on this bases was unreasonable and the court agreed.

Advance polling is set for Sept. 25 and 26 – with election say in Quebec on Oct. 3.
