Montreal’s Hell’s Kitchen Experience

“It's so exciting,” says Elise Wims Harris, chef from Hell's Kitchen season 9 and their All Stars edition show who is in Montreal cooking up some of her 5-star recipes for the city’s Hell’s Kitchen Experience event. Pamela Pagano reports.

The Plaza Centre-Ville venue in Downtown Montreal was transformed Oct. 14 for the “Hell’s Kitchen Experience” event where a five-course meal was prepared by Elise Wims Harris, chef from season nine and the All Stars edition of the television show Hell’s Kitchen.

“I’m excited to share some of my favorite recipes that got 5-stars on Hell’s Kitchen,” said Harris. “See you all tonight, is gonna be lit!”

The event, not an official Hell’s Kitchen production but put together by many creatives to reproduce the feeling of the American show hosted by Gordon Ramsay, where chefs compete against one another.

“My partner, Steven and I, we got together, we spoke about this idea, and he did this event years back, ten years ago with chef Elise,” explained Montreal chef, Steve Marcone, on how the idea came about.  “We’re like, ‘okay, you know what? This is going to be fun lets put it together’ he goes like, ‘you know what? I know the PMG Group, they’re fantastic, they’re going to be able to make it happen’.”

“Fast forward two months later, we’re here.”

“I am in shock,” said Harris. “I can’t believe so many people are coming to see me, it’s so exciting, it’s heartwarming.”

The one night only event was sold out Friday, with over 500 people watching, dancing, and eating – that’s around 3,000 dishes.

Why Harris loves being a chef?

Food brings people together she says – and being able to tell a story through every dish.

“My advice to them is to have a tough skin and to always stay true and authentic to yourself,” she said. “Don’t be afraid to be yourself because that’s where the passion exists.”
