Quebec provincial police say a 90-year-old woman is dead following an assault at a seniors residence on Wednesday in Vaudreuil-Dorion, west of Montreal.

Brian Paul Dennison, 82, was charged with second-degree murder at the Valleyfield court house on Thursday morning.

The victim identified as Annie Di Lauro – the suspect’s partner.

Sûreté du Québec (SQ) say they received a call at 1 p.m. and found the woman dead in her apartment – located in the Groupe Maurice’s Le Félix Vaudreuil-Dorion residence.

Officers also found the suspect injured onsite in the unit and arrested him.

Dennison is due to return to court on Nov. 4.

In an emailed statement, the management of the home said other residents were not at risk.

Marie-Eve Genereux, a spokeswoman for Groupe Maurice, said owners were in constant communication with authorities and resource people were on-site to answer residents’ questions and offer psychological help to anyone needing it.
