Body of missing La Prairie man located, two teens charged

The body of Luc Lafontaine, a 64-year-old man who was reported missing in the La Prairie area, was located in Saint-Basile-le-Grand on Monday in a car trunk – and two people are now charged in connection with his murder.

Nicolas Côté, 19, is charged with second-degree murder and improperly or indecently interfering with a human corpse.

Zoé Boutin, 18, is charged with being an accomplice after the fact and improperly or indecently interfering with a human corpse.

The pair had been arrested near a vehicle that was parked along the Richelieu River as they reportedly looked to dispose of Lafontaine’s body.

The man was last seen Oct. 22, at his home in La Prairie – but had left his personal effects and vehicle there.
