Two new arrests in connection with Laval restaurant shooting

By CityNews Staff

Police have made two additional arrests in connection with the murder of Bernard Cherfan, a man connected to organized crime, who was shot dead in a restaurant in Laval – in front of several families and children – last June.

Tafari Bezabeh, 19, and Jalen Joel Campbell Brown, 21, were both arrested in Ontario on Tuesday.

Both are facing premeditated murder charges. An after-the-fact accessory charge has also been filed against Campbell Brown.

The two accused are currently detained in Ontario and appeared by videoconference at the Laval courthouse.

They are the second and third arrests in this case, after that of Britney Lewis, who was caught, also in Ontario, in the weeks following the murder. Lewis is also facing premeditated murder charges.
