First snowstorm of winter coming to Montreal Friday

By News Staff

Montreal will likely get its first major snowfall of the season on Friday.

Environment Canada says chances of a “significant snowfall” are high for Montreal, Laval, Longueuil and Châteauguay.

The snow could continue into Saturday.

Roughly 20cm is expected across both days.

The weather authority issued a special weather statement Tuesday morning. It expects temperatures will be near freezing, which will generate heavy and sticky snow.

“Snow will accumulate rapidly making travel difficult,” Environment Canada said. “Consider moving or postponing your outings.”
