Dr. Lucie Opatrny named new head of the MUHC

Dr. Lucie Opatrny, Quebec’s deputy health minister, has been named president and executive director of the MUHC.
The Board of Directors of the McGill University Health Centre confirmed the selection of Dr. Opatrny as the organization’s president and executive director on Thursday.
“The MUHC has a long history of developing and providing Quebecers with cutting-edge care,” Dr. Opatrny was quoted as saying, in a press release announcing the news.
“I look forward to coming onboard and working with the MUHC’s world-class clinicians, educators, researchers, and administrative teams to foster more interdisciplinary care and further their goals and success.”
Education and expertise make her a good fit for the position
Dr. Opatrny’s academic training and multi-faceted experience in the health and social services network make her a natural candidate and exceptional fit for this appointment.
Dr. Opatnry earned her medical degree and a Master’s in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from McGill University.
She also has a Master’s in healthcare management and a diploma in advanced negotiations from Harvard University.
She has served as director of professional services at the CISSS de Laval and St. Mary’s hospital center.
And in addition to being a practicing physician at the MUHC between 2004 and 2012, she also taught in the faculty of medicine at McGill.
