Montreal declares snow removal parking ban

Following another winter storm warning, the City of Montreal is gearing up for snow removal by announcing a parking ban.

The city says it will begin with all priority areas such as fire and police stations, hospitals, emergency communication centres such as 911 and 311, drinking water treatment plants, main bridges and tunnels.

During snow removal, some parts of the city will put up signs to warn drivers that snow removal will be taking place in that area.

Some areas such as LaSalle, Pierrefonds-Roxboro, and Verdun do have permanent snow removal signs.

During that time, street parking is fully prohibited, including in areas that have permanent parking signs.

Failing to comply with the sign will result in your vehicle being towed and you getting a fine.

The city says parking signs will be displayed before 3 p.m. the same day snow removal will take place. Once the sign is up, parking will be prohibited between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m.

Signs might also go up at 8 p.m. the evening prior to snow removal. These signs will indicate that parking will be prohibited between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.
