Coveted Montreal-inspired Nike bagel shoes selling for upwards of $200 on secondary market

Nearly a week after the release of Nike’s bagel shoes – a must-have for Montreal sneaker and bagel lovers alike – the footwear remains a hot-ticket item.
While the official Nike store is sold out of the “Dunk Low Montreal Bagel shoes” – which sell for $160 – Montrealers can still get their hands (or feet) on a pair via the secondary market.
But it comes at a price.
As of Sunday afternoon, a variety of sneaker retailers were selling the sesame-covered shoes.
Retailer “Foot Patrol” was selling a pair of the kicks for about $200 plus delivery. They were listed at $214 on “KRWN KICKS.”
The bagel shoes were going for $252 on “In Search Of” – the cost of about 20 dozen real sesame bagels in Montreal.
The made-for-Montreal Nike bagel shoes were the talk of the town when they were released last Tuesday.
The sneaks sold out online within hours. And there were long outdoor lines – in the snow, no less – at Montreal’s Off The Hook and Sam Tabak.
Those hoping to get their hands on the hot commodity without breaking the bank still have a chance though.
St. Viateur Bagel is giving away a pair of the “Dunk Low Montreal Bagel shoes” as part of a contest. Participants simply need to sign up to the bagel shop’s online mailing list before Jan. 31 for a chance to win.
Meanwhile those who have already snagged a pair are sharing their elation online.
Montreal-born mixed martial arts journalist Ariel Helwani was among them. He tweeted a photo of himself wearing the shoes.
