Major fire in Montreal near Highway 13 under control

The major fire that broke out in Montreal near Highway 13 Monday evening was declared under control Tuesday morning, roughly 17 hours later.

Crews remained on the scene Tuesday putting out the blaze. A large crane was being used to douse the flames from above.

The commercial building on Pitfield Boulevard and Thimens Street was engulfed in flames around 5:30 p.m. Monday night.

It’s said to have housed a medical equipment distribution company.

When firefighters arrived, the blaze had spread throughout the roof and produced a huge plume of black smoke that could be seen for miles.
