Stabbings, gunshots, Molotov cocktails; a busy Wednesday night for Montreal police

A number of incidents took place on Montreal territory on Wednesday night, ranging from stabbings and gun shots fired to Molotov cocktails targeting a business.

Double stabbing

Police are investigating a double stabbing that took place in a home in the Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough on Wednesday night.

Around 6:20 p.m. the police received a call about a man who was screaming in an apartment on Sherbrooke Street near Beauclerk Street, not far from Place Versailles.

When they arrived at the scene, officers found two men, ages 19 and 34, with upper body injuries.

Police say that a fight broke out between the two men and the 34-year-old allegedly attacked the 19-year-old with a knife.

The two men were conscious when they were transported to a hospital and their injuries are not life threatening.

Shots fired in Pierrefonds

Gunshots were fired in the borough of Pierrefonds on Wednesday evening, with no casualties.

Around 8:30 p.m., a police officer heard shots fired near the intersection of Jacques-Bizard and Pierrefonds boulevards.

After searching the area, the officer failed to locate any victims or suspects. Bullet holes were however found on a storefront on the second floor of a shopping mall.

Investigators and a canine unit were called to the scene to help search for additional clues.

Molotov cocktail thrown at business in Saint-Laurent borough

Montreal police are also investigating a fire caused by a Molotov cocktail thrown into a business in Saint-Laurent overnight early Thursday morning.

Responding to 911 calls, around 2:20 a.m. they found the start of a fire in an industrial condo on rue Benjamin-Hudon, near boulevard Le Beau.

Police officers noticed the presence of a can of gasoline and a Molotov cocktail inside the business, with the front window smashed.

No injuries were reported and police say the damage to the building was caused mainly by the sprinklers.

The investigation has been transferred to the SPVM arson section.
