Montreal police looking for more victims of alleged sexual predator

By News Staff

Montreal police are appealing to the public for help after a man was charged with sexual assault, who allegedly found his victims via dating sites.

On Wednesday, investigators from the SPVM’s sexual assault unit, in collaboration with the Richelieu-Saint-Laurent and the Saint-Jérôme police departments, and the Sûreté du Québec, proceeded with the arrest of Samuel Moderie.

The 28-year-old man is accused of allegedly committing sexual assaults against five women, on separate occasions between July 2022 and January 2023.

Investigators have strong reason to believe that other victims might be out there.

How police say Moderie operated

Samuel Moderie would come into contact with his victims through dating sites. He is suspected of sexually assaulting three women during three separate events, on July 1 and December 16, 2022, as well as January 6, 2023.

The suspect would meet his victims and administer a drug to them without their knowledge. Once the women were unconscious, he allegedly sexually assaulted them and stole from them. The events would have happened in Montreal, McMasterville and Saint-Jérôme.

The investigation showed that the suspect probably targeted two other victims.

Moderie speaks French. He is 1.78m tall and weighs 80kg. He has brown hair and eyes. He sports tattoos on his chest and right arm.
