Snow for southern Quebec starting tonight, could last 36 hours

Snow is on the way for multiple regions of Quebec, especially for the southern portion of the province – starting for some tonight and it could fall for 36 hours.

Montreal could see about 15 to 20 cm, other areas include the Eastern Townships, the Montérégie, Lanaudière, and parts of the Laurentians.

A special weather statement in effect for: Châteauguay – La Prairie, Laval, Longueuil – Varennes, and the island of Montreal.

“A low pressure system developing over the Southwestern United States will move up towards New England today,” said Environment Canada. “Snow is expected to develop overnight tonight and continue until Friday morning. This system could give 15 to 20 cm of snow and produce local blowing snow.”

Roads could become slippery. Be prepared to adapt your driving to changing conditions and rush hour traffic could be significantly impacted on Thursday.

Mainly sunny for Montreal on Wednesday and it’ll feel more like -11°C with the wind chill in the afternoon. Snow expected to start this evening and dipping to -23°C with the wind chill overnight.

Very cold on Thursday, -12°C, but feeling more like -23°C with the winds.

Sun and clouds for Friday afternoon, and a high of -9°C.

A 60 per cent chance of flurries on Saturday, high of -14°C.

Snow expected on Sunday, with periods of flurries on Monday and Tuesday – highs of -4°C and then plus 1°C come Tuesday.
