Snow and milder temperatures for Spring Break in Quebec

Spring Break week for many and a cold start. Mainly sunny for Monday, feeling more like -18°C with the wind chill in the morning and -13°C in the afternoon.

Environment Canada issued a smog warning in the morning for: Châteauguay – La Prairie, Laval, Longueuil – Varennes, and the island of Montreal.

“Atmospheric conditions are currently causing poor air quality. High concentrations of pollutants are expected to persist through Monday morning.”

They stress that smog especially affects asthmatic children and people with respiratory ailments or heart disease. “It is therefore recommended that these individuals avoid intense physical activity outdoors until the smog warning is lifted.”

The weather agency then issued a snowfall warning for the same areas, saying “snow with total accumulations of 15 to 20 cm is expected on Tuesday. Snow will develop Tuesday morning and will persist through the evening. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. There may be a significant impact on rush hour traffic in urban areas.”

High of plus 2°C expected for Tuesday, but it will feel more like -12°C in the morning with the wind chill.

More flurries possible on Wednesday and Thursday, but temperatures steady around plus 1°C.

Sunshine on Friday and -3°C.

Sun and clouds Saturday and a high of -2°C.

Partly sunny for Sunday and plus 1°C.
