Three dead pigs hanging from overpasses claimed by animal rights activists

Animal rights activists from Direct Action Everywhere Montreal have claimed responsibility for the three dead pigs hung from Montreal overpasses on Thursday.

The group says it was protest against the consumption of meat.

The dead pigs were found hanging from overpasses in the Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie borough early Thursday morning.

At around 3:30 a.m. police received a call alerting them to a dead pig hanging from an overpass near the intersection of Christophe Colomb and des Carrières street.

After patrolling the area police found a second dead pig hanging from an overpass near the intersection of Papineau avenue and des carrières street around 5 a.m.

Thirty minutes later they located a third dead pig hanging from an overpass near the intersection of De Lorimier avenue and Dandurand street.

City workers quickly removed the dead pigs.

A poster that read “You pay, they die” was left above the dead pig hanging on Christophe-Colomb Avenue.

A spokesperson for Direct Action Everywhere Montreal spoke to the Journal de Montreal claiming responsibility. She explained the goal of the action was to draw attention to animal cruelty.
